Hedges and stuff!
After the mass destruction involved in clearing the garden area of old trees we finally got to do some constructive planting.
Hedges
We are replacing the mass of Thujas with a mixed hedge, providing plenty of interest for wildlife.
Common Hazel
Plum Cherry
Common Privet
Glossy Buckthorn
Spindle Tree
Blackthorn
Bloodtwig Dogwood
Guelder-Rose
Beech
Hornbeam
This is the hedge that faces out to the road.
We also planted along the drive for some way, this being mixed beech and hornbeam.
And planted our first tree, a crab apple to pollinate the apple trees.
All in all a good start to actually planting up the new garden.
