The weather so far has been very mixed this July. Sometimes extremely hot – peaking at 37C – and at other times very wet. So a mixture of sunshine and rain that the garden has thrived on. The early potatoes lifted last week (Mona Lisa) are proving very tasty and we are also picking the first french beans and courgettes. Both varieties of climbing beans are doing well with the purple beans already coming into flower. As a bonus, both cats find the bean tunnel a good shady place on a hot day.
Lots of the flowers we planted earlier, including Foxglove “Alba” are now flowering along with the sweet peas.
Well done with the sweet peas, I’ve never succeeded and have given up after several years of failures. Perhaps it gets too hot for them? Amelia
